Mr James Vlasos

James W. Vlasos March 17, 1932 - May 24, 2012 Mr. James W. Vlasos, 80, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Golden Living Center-Countryside in La Porte, IN. He was born March 17, 1932 in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of James N. Vlasos and Lillian (Seward) Vlasos. He has been a resident of La Porte since 1981 and was known by many as the "Mayor". He is a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict On March 10, 1980, in Valparaiso, he married Susan (Washburn) Vlasos who preceded in death September of 1998. He is survived by 9 nieces and nephews and several step-children. James was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A memorial service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 3:00 pm with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick, officiating. Cremation has taken place.
