Mr. James Mick Sr.

James A. Mick December 29, 1933-December 14, 2011 Mr. James A. Mick, Sr., 77, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday December 14, 2011 at his home. He was born December 29, 1933 in Golconda, Illinois, the son of Harold Mick and Iona T. (Buttery) Mick. James worked as a mill-rite for L.T.V. Steel for 27 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Swanson Center. James had lived most of his life in the LaPorte and Hammond area. On June 21, 1957, in Knox, IN, he married Evelyn Kuta Mick who survives. He is also survived by his 3 daughters - Roberta (Tom) Bass, Janice (John) Messino, Evelyn (Ed) Schwitters; one son James (Cindy) Mick, Jr.; two step-sons,Tony Kuta, Ray Kuta; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother - Lawrence Mick; 3 sisters - Wanda Smith, Elizabeth Towne and Donna Chelbowski. James was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, December 16, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 9:30 am until time of the service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday December 17, 2011 at 10:30 am with Robert Raschka officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church.
