James "Jim" R. Brummit October 2, 1944-October 28, 2015 Mr. James "Jim" R. Brummit, 71, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Wednesday October 28, 2015 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. He was born October 2, 1944 in Centerville, Iowa. Jim was a retired Supervisor from Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed early retirement in 2001 after a 22 year career. He graduated from LaPorte High School in 1963 and then earned his undergraduate degree from Ball State where he was a member of the Signa Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He earned his MBA from Indiana University while employed at Ford. His passions included politics, antique cars, sports, retirement and big family meals. His greatest joy was spending time with his daughter and family. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Brummit of Bloomington, IN; sister, Susan Anderson Miller of La Porte, IN; niece, April (Tim) Greetham; nephew, Chad (Tricia) Miller, two great-nephews, Luke Miller, and Jacob Greetham and one great-niece, Anna Miller. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Anderson. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, November 6 at Cummings Lodge, Soldier's Memorial Park, 350 Grangemouth Road, LaPorte, IN. 46350. There will not be a visitation or burial. The family simply asks for love and support. Please no flowers.
