Mr. James Bailey

Mr. James E. Bailey, 80, of La Porte, IN, died Friday April 29, 2011 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in La Porte. He was born June 23, 1930 in Frenchburg, Kentucky, the son of Riley Bailey and Mary (Miller) Bailey and has lived in the La Porte area most of his life. James worked for Clark Equipment of Michigan City and New York Blower of La Porte. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was discharged in 1952. He was a member of American Legion of Union Mills, and he enjoyed working on cars. On February 17, 1967, in La Porte, IN, he married Mildred (Lundgren) Bailey who preceded in death May 10, 2000. He is survived by his son - Ronald Bailey of IL; step-daughter - Carole (Marv) Lundgren Risner of North Fort Myers, FL; brother - Leander Bailey of La Porte, IN; 5 sisters - Betty Rupert of Winamac, IN, Catherine Wright of Rochester, IN, Susan Murphy of AR, Sharon Ann Bailey of Plymouth, IN, Ruth Allen of North Judson, IN; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife; step-son, Lawrence E. Lundgren Sr.; 2 brothers, Robert Bailey and Frank Bailey. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Wednesday, May 4, 2011 10:00 am until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday May 4, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, IN.
