Mr. Gordon Monte

Mr. Gordon E, Monte, 82, of La Porte, died Tuesday May 3, 2011 at his home. He was born March 18, 1929 in Argonne, Wisconsin, the son of Vincent Monte and Della (Petit) Monte. Gordon worked as a Plasterer for the Plaster and Cement Local of South Bend, IN. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In 1950 in La Porte he married Ida Mae Brown Monte who preceded in death in 1984. On May 9, 1987 in La Porte, IN, he married Nancy Morgan Monte who survives. He is also survived by his 3 sons - Greg (Marci) Monte of La Porte, Scott (Michelle) Monte of Fort Wayne, IN, Michael (Janice) Wilson of Kingsford Heights; 6 daughters - Linda (Carl) Alwine of MI, Regina Megan of Harriman, TN, Lisa (Mike) Burton of Hamlet, Tina Wilson of La Porte, Bridgett (Mike) Lower of La Porte, Kris (Deon) Smith of Oneida, TN; 28 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, first spouse, Ida Mae Monte, daughter, Lori Ann Waldo, 3 sisters, Joyce Lemaster, Audrey Oestreich, Jeanette McMillion, 3 brothers, Richard, Roland, and Hugh Monte. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, May 6, 2011 from 10:00 am until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday May 6, 2011 at 11:00 am with Pastor Monroe Jones and Assistant Pastor Paul Coldiron officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, La Porte, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the may be made to the family of Gordon Monte.
