Mr. Elmer Bowers

Elmer C. Bowers June 21, 1914 - January 13, 2013 Mr. Elmer C. Bowers, 98, of Union Mills, Indiana, died Sunday January 13, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born June 21, 1914 in Union Mills, Indiana, the son of Clyde Bowers and Mae (Metcalf) Bowers. Elmer retired as an inspector for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and later retired from the Beatty Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. He was the oldest person in Union Mills and also resided on the same street in his entire life. On June 21, 1936, in Auburn, IN, he married Donna (Grage) Bowers who survives. He is also survived by his son - Edwin (Karen) Bowers of La Porte, IN; sister - Edna Jean Woodward of New Albany, IN; 3 step grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Nancy Bowers, and 3 sisters. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 1:00 pm until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday January 16, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John Beehler officiating.
