Edwin L. Hooten, Sr. April 13, 1930 - July 24, 2012 Mr. Edwin L. Hooten, Sr., 82, of Mill Creek, Indiana, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born April 13, 1930 in La Porte Co, Indiana, the son of Schuyler Hooten and Ida Belle (Reed) Hooten. Edwin worked 60 years as a carpenter for Union #1485 retiring in 1992. He was a member of New Carlisle United Methodist Church, and Carpenter Union #1485. On July 17, 1953, in New Carlisle, IN, he married Betty (Wilson) Hooten who survives. He is also survived by his 2 sons - Edwin Hooten, Jr., Corey Hooten, and a grandchild - Schuyler Hooten, all of Mill Creek, IN; sister - Barbara Veirs of La Porte, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Deborah Hooten, 3 brothers, Raymond, Lawrence Ernest Hooten, and 3 sisters, Fanella Hostetler, Marcaria Hostetler, and Daphne Ketch. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Cremation will take place with a private family service at a later date.
