Mr. Donald Dials

Donald C. Dial April 12, 1927-June 23, 2012 Mr. Donald C. Dial, 85, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday June 23, 2012 at Settlers House in La Porte. He was born April 12, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ernest Dial and Virginia (Schroder) Dial. Donald retired after 20 years with the Chicago Police Dept. He was then Chief of Police for the Town of Walkerton, and he also worked at Howmet as a security guard. Donald was a Veteran of the US Army during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post #83 of La Porte. On May 30, 1948, in La Porte, IN, he married Erma (Huge) Dial who preceded him in death February 14, 2011. He is survived by his sister, Carol Dial of Dallas, TX; friends & caregivers - Donna J. Kalsow and Windy M. Clark both of La Porte, IN. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 9:30 am, until time of service. A Memorial Life Celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday July 5, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Cremation will take place.
