Mr. Donald Cannan

Donald R. Cannan March 11, 1942-June 27, 2012 Mr. Donald R. Cannan, 70, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday June 27, 2012 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born March 11, 1942, in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of Ralph Cannan and Margaret (Okrzesik) Cannan. Donald, retired from Roll Coaters in 2004. He was a Veteran of US Marine Corp. during Vietnam and was a member of the Moose Lodge #980 of Michigan City, Indiana, since 1980. On July 2, 1988, he married Jean (Smith) Cannan, who preceded him in death on December 18, 2006. He is survived by his 3 daughters - Patty (Dan) Hawkins of La Porte, IN, Valerie (John) Gonzales of Pueblo, CO, Dawn (Kevin) Francis of Kingsford Heights, IN; 2 sons - Donnie (Terri) Cannan of Rolling Prairie, IN, Randy (Nicole) Cannan of La Porte, IN; 21 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 step sons; 1 step daughter; 2 brothers - Mike Cannan of Clarksville, TN, Danny Cannan of Phoenix, AZ, and one sister - Darlene Puckett of La Porte, IN. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother, Leonard Cannan. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, June 29, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday June 30, 2012 at 11:00. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana where the VFW- American Legion Honor Guard will present military honors.
