Mrs. Minnie L. Gooch, 72, of 4821 E. State Road 4, LaPorte, passed away Friday February 20, 2004, at 6:10 a.m., at the LaPorte Hospital. She was born September 7, 1931, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to Jack and Mable E. Seaton Southern, and has lived in the LaPorte area for 46 years coming from Dyersburg, Tennessee. Mrs. Gooch retired as a wax assembler from Howmet Corp. after 30 years of service. On November 22, 1950, in Corthon, Mississippi she married John Gooch who preceded her in death on July 5, 2001. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, James Southern. Surviving are two daughters, Theresa McFarland of LaPorte, Johnna Ronald Rhodes, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son, Thomas Christine Gooch of Granger, Indiana; four granddaughters, Toni Day, McKenzie Rodgers, Emily Gooch, and Amy Gooch; and one grandson, Justin Ostroski. The funeral will be Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Rodney Nielsen officiating. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana.
