Mildred Condon

Mrs. Mildred "Millie" Condon, 100, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday November 28, 2009 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. She was born February 13, 1909 in LaPorte County, Indiana, the daughter of Harry Smith and Malinda Murdock Smith and has lived in the La Porte area all of her life. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Past President and 75 year member of the East Galena Co. Home Economics Club and a 75 year member of the LaPorte County Home Economic Extension Organization. Millie loved crocheting and quilting. During the holiday season she made large amounts of peanut brittle and distributed it all over town. She liked volunteering where ever she was needed, she spent countless hours preparing meals at the church and working at the local newspaper for the church. On November 9, 1929, in LaPorte, IN, she married William W. Condon who preceded in death November 9, 1978. She is survived by her daughter Mary Robert Christ of La Porte, IN; three grandchildren Rob Nancy Christ, Cindy Mike Corbett, Kelly Brooke Christ all of La Porte, IN; four great grandchildren Jake Kristen Corsbie of Kenosha, WI, Erin Christ of La Porte, IN, Adam Christ of Maryland, Chloe Christ of La Porte, IN; two step great grandsons Bert Corbett of Florida, Kevin Corbett of LaPorte; one great great grandchild Haley Corsbie of Kenosha, WI; one niece and one nephew. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Lorenzo Smith, and one sister, Doris Wurst. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, December 01, 2009 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Wednesday, December 02, 2009 9:00 am until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday December 2, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
