Mr. Melvin Patrick Thompson, age 55, of Mill Creek, Ind., died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at 9:50 AM at his residence in Mill Creek, Ind. He was born March 16, 1951 in Beckley, WV to the late Delbert Thompson and Gabriel Wilkens Thompson. Melvin has lived in the LaPorte Co. area since childhood coming from Chicago, Ill. Mr. Thompson was employed by ESM KOP for the last 18 years. He was a life-time member of the NRA, enjoyed reading about political issues, history, and the news. He also enjoyed playing video games & watching TV with his sons Patrick & Matthew and spending special moments with his wife, Lillie. He was a veteran of US Navy, during Vietnam Era and was a Gunner's Mate on the USS Preble. On August 26, 1989 in LaPorte he married Lillie Little who survives. He is also survived by his Two Sons, Mr. Patrick Thompson of Mill Creek, Ind., Mr. Matthew Thompson of Mill Creek, Ind.; Mother, Gabriel Thompson; One Sister, Mrs. Gabriel Kelly of Warsaw, Ind.; Seven Brothers, Mr. Michael Thompson of Grandview, Texas, Mr. Ron Thompson of Claypool, Ind.' Mr. Dave Thompson of South Bend, Ind., Mr. Robert Thompson of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Peter Thompson of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Bryan Thompson of La Porte, Ind., and Mr. Andy Thompson of La Porte, Ind. He is preceded in death by his father Delbert Thompson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, June 17, 2006. A memorial service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 17, 2006, Rev. James Gippert officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #83 of LaPorte, Ind. and the V.F.W. post #1130 of LaPorte, Ind. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Family of Melvin P. Thompson.
