Mason Mitchell

Mr. Mason O. Mitchell, 80, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Friday January 22, 2010 at The Arbors of Michigan City, IN. He was born February 17, 1929 in Roxanne, Kentucky, the son of Hiram Mitchell and Mary Shephard Mitchell. He lived most of his life in the LaPorte, area. Mason owned and operated the Mitchell Trucking Co. He was a member of Moose Lodge of LaPorte and Elk Lodge of LaPorte and was an avid golfer. When living in Maine, he owned a potato farm. He is survived by his three daughters, Linda Kay Kellems of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Brenda Krause of LaPorte, IN, Mary Crosslin of LaPorte, IN; two sons, Lonnie Mitchell of Gorham, ME. and Hiram Mitchell of LaPorte; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lela Walters of LaPorte, IN, Nelie Emby of Franklin, OH. and one brother, Jonah Mitchell of Somerset, KY. Mason was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ella Mae Mitchell, two sisters and five brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm & Monday, January 25, 2010 9:30 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday January 25, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Doug Baker officiating. Cremation will take place.
