Mary L. Wood (nee Alderfer) November 24, 1923 - May 1, 2016 Mary L. Wood age 92, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2016 surrounded by her family at the home her husband built for her. She is survived by her daughters, Carol J. (late Waylen) Tanksley, Linda S. Plona, Patricia A. (David) Emerson and Donna L. Wood; sons, Donald J. Wood Jr. and Lloyd E. (Sue) Wood; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah and Martha Alderfer; husband, Donald J. Wood Sr.; granddaughter, Lori Ann (nee Tanksley) Dubbs; grandson, Roger A. Tanksley; 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Mary was born on November 24, 1923 in LaPorte, IN. In Rockford, IL, she married Donald J. Wood Sr. who preceded her in death on October 8, 2003. She was an active longtime member of Grace Baptist Church, LaPorte, IN. She enjoyed garage sales, jigsaw puzzles and shopping . Mary was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services 602 Maple Avenue LaPorte, IN with Pastor Kim Landrum officiating. Interment to follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
