Mary Nona

Mary L. Nona, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Thursday January 27, 2011 at La Porte Hospital. She was born July 18, 1926 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Irwin Hakes and Pearl Jones Hakes. Mary had worked for Howmet Corp. for twenty-five years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed working outside, especially in her garden. She loved the outdoors. Mary was a pet lover; she always had cats and dogs. Mary enjoyed spending time with all her special friends. She is survived by her son - William Sandie Nona of La Porte, IN; daughter - Andrea Daniel Fear of La Porte, IN.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one sister - Jeanette Oestermyer. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son, Brian Reid, one sister and two brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm & Monday, January 31, 2011 from 9:30 am until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday January 31, 2011 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Curtis Southwood officiating.
