Mary Darst

Mrs. Mary Sue Darst, 90, of 339 Grayson Rd., LaPorte, Indiana, died 10:23 AM Monday, December 26, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, Indiana. She was born August 25, 1915 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Lucile Alberta Powell Byrd and Laughlin Daniel Bryd, both have preceded her in death. Mary was co-owner/partner of Darst Harley Davidson for 58 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Paul?s Episcopal Church in LaPorte, and belonged to the St. Ann?s Guild of the church, LaPorte Order of Eastern Star, co-founded the Rambler?s-Gadabouts Motorcycle Club, member of a Homemaker?s Club, Rug Hooker?s Club of Niles, Michigan, Quilt Club of South Bend, Indiana, and enjoyed sewing and knitting. On November 6, 1938 in LaPorte, Indiana, she married Frank ?Hap? K. Darst, who preceded January 3, 1996. Surviving are her two daughters; Catherine Donald Boody of LaPorte, IN., Martha Jerry Roth of South Bend, IN.; three grandchildren, Michel Tanis Arriaga of Mishawaka, IN., Deborah Roth of Mishawaka, IN., Julia Marco Cerrillo of San Miguel, Mexico; ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; eleven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and two brothers. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the St. Paul?s Episcopal Church in LaPorte, IN. on Saturday, January 7, 2006. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Paul?s Episcopal Church at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2006 with Rev. James P. Jones, officiating.
