Mary Louise Crone

Mary Louise Crone, 98, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN.
She was born July 13, 1922 in New Holland, Indiana, the daughter of Noble and Hope (Roose) Garrett.
On December 14, 1940, in South Bend, Mary married Guy Crone, who preceded her in death.
Mary moved to the La Porte area in 1990 from Wanatah, where she worked as a teacher’s aide for Wanatah Elementary for 16 years before retiring. She and her husband were "snowbirds", spending winters in Sebring, FL and they loved traveling in their motor home. Mary was a member of the 1st Christian Church, La Porte and was a Pink Lady for the La Porte Hospital, which she really enjoyed. Her specialty was crocheting such things as blankets and arm covers for furniture. She was also good at quilting and tatting.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Darlene) Crone of La Porte, IN; brothers, Donald Garrett of La Paz, IN, Everett Garrett of Lakeville, IN; grandchildren, Laura Crone, St. Pete Beach, FL; Ian (Jill Zambito) Crone, Knoxville, TN; and Candy Crone (daughter in law) Chesterton, IN.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons James and Robert Crone; brothers, Al, Bill and Joe Garrett; sister, Marge Guthrie, brother Phillip Garrett.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, January 7, 2020 from 10:00 until service time at 10:30, with Pastor Everett Shattuck, officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. Anyone attending these events must wear a mask and practice 6 foot distancing.
