Martha Metheny

Mrs. Martha J. "Mity" Metheny, 71, of 6113 Ind. 104, Stillwell, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at 8:30 a.m. at her home. She was born Sept. 23, 1932, in LaPorte to John and Goldie Jones Pisello, and had lived most of her life in the LaPorte area. Mrs. Metheny retired in 1997 as a truck driver with the Indiana State Highway Dept. after 17 years. She had also worked at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for the past seven years. She was a member of Christ Gospel Church of La-Porte where she was also a board member. She married Raymond A. Metheny Sr., who died March 13, 1965. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Connie Franks; two sisters, Janie Schultz and Katherine Johnson; and one brother, Johnny Pisello. Surviving are two sons, Raymond Jr. Linda of Walkerton and Douglas A. Terry of Wilmington, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Daisey Webb of Minier, Ill., and Bonnie Higgins of Missouri; and three brothers, Anthony and Arkie Pisello, both of LaPorte, and James Pisello of Birmingham, Ala. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Ricky Bray officiating. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until the service.
