Marlene Elkins

Mrs. Marlene June Elkins age 69, of La Porte, Ind., died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. She was born April 7, 1939 in Michigan City, Ind. to the late Edward Glassman and the late Ethel Mae Livinghouse Glassman. She lived many years in the Rolling Prairie area coming from Michigan City, Ind. Mrs. Elkins was a Homemaker and was a member of Bethel Chapel. She was a past member of the First Christian Church of Rolling Prairie. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother; she enjoyed her dogs and loved to sing along with church hymns and making crafts. On February 23, 1954 in Michigan City, Ind. she married John Raymond "Ray" Elkins Jr. who preceded in death April 21, 1998. She is survived by her Daughter, Dora Chris Martin of Key Largo, Fla.; Five Sons, John Theresa Elkins of Walkerton, Ind., Richard Carolyn Elkins of New Carlisle, Ind., Glen Robin Elkins of Rolling Prairie, Ind., Kenneth Cindy Elkins of La Porte, Ind.; Mr. Bruce Judy Elkins of La Porte, Ind.; Seventeen grandchildren; One Sister, Mary Martin of Jacksonville, Fla. She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband; One Daughter Mary June Elkins; One Grandson; Two Sisters, Lillian Glassman, Lucille Glassman; and One Brother Kenneth Glassman. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, June 22, 2008 and from 9:00 AM Monday until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 10:00 AM Monday, June 23, 2008, Pastor Larry Owen officiating. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memorial Garden in Michigan City, Ind.
