Mark Gilchrist

Mark W. Gilchrist, 55, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday January 29, 2009 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. He was born December 21, 1953 in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of William E. Gilchrist and Mildred L. Gloff Gilchrist. He has lived in the LaPorte County area all of his life. Mark worked as a Team Technician for Mid-West Steel a division of US Steel for thirty years, retiring in 1973. He was a life-time teacher and loved to learn. Mark had a great love for life and was very spontaneous and he had a very strong work ethic. He is survived by his father, William E. Gilchrist of La Porte, IN, daughter, Megan Gilchrist of Brighton, MI, and Granddaughter, Leigharyn Gilchrist. Mark was preceded in death by mother, Mildred L. Gilchrist. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, February 03, 2009 9:30 am - 10:30 am. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday February 3, 2009 at Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating. Cremation will take place.
