Mrs. Marilyn DeWitt, 69, of La Porte, Indiana, died Monday April 19, 2010 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte. She was born November 26, 1940 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Homer Colburn and Erma Schoff Colburn. She lived in the LaPorte area all of her life. Marilyn worked at American Home Foods and also worked for Roll Coater, retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marilyn was a member of the Business Girls of LaPorte. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Marilyn had a great impact on everyone that she came to know and love. On July 2, 1966, in LaPorte, IN, she married Norman DeWitt, who preceded her in death November 16, 2004. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas DeWitt of Surf City, NC, Hollis DeWitt of La Porte, IN, and also survived by son, Daniel DeWitt of LaPorte, IN; two daughters Debra Biron of LaPorte, IN, Penny Lyndale Spell of Brandenton, FL; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters Eileen Dhein of Manitowoc, WI, Alberta Levy of Astoria, OR, Marie White of Portland, OR, Leatrice Westphal of Michigan City, IN and one brother, David Colburn of Sumter, SC. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Jack Colburn, Donald Colburn. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, April 23, 2010 9:00 am - 9:45 am at the funeral home. Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Friday April 23, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. David Kime officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
