Margaret Ulrich

Mrs. Margaret L. Ulrich, 84, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died Tuesday April 28, 2009 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte, Ind. She was born December 10, 1924 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Gerald M. McCarty and Laura Bell McCarty. Margaret worked as a secretary/treasurer for the New Prairie School System. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rolling Prairie, Christian Women's Association, Red Hatters Society and Best Years Group. She was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Margaret dearly loved her family, and was deeply loved in return. On June 5, 1943, in Rolling Prairie, Ind., she married Ward Ulrich who preceded her in death on February 1, 2004. She is survived by her daughter Kathie Smith of Sacramento, Calif.; two granddaughters - Paige Egan Cheong of Pacifica, Calif., Tracy Scott deRyk of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three great-grandchildren - Riley deRyk, Emma deRyk, and Olivia Cheong; two sisters - Lois Wildfong of Union Mills, Ind., and Pat Mangus of Union Mills, Ind. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Betty Vogel, and two brothers, Raymond McCarty and Gerald J. McCarty. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, May 1, 2009 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Friday May 1, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Steven Laue officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at the Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, Ind. at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Rolling Prairie, 3376 E.
