Margaret Minnis

Mrs. Margaret Louise Minnis, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Wednesday February 4, 2009 at La Porte Hospital. She was born December 18, 1920 in Trigg Co., Kentucky, the daughter of Mode Ethridge and Katie Kirksey Ethridge. Margaret worked as a Nurse for La Porte Hospital and retired in 1982 after 20 years of service. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. On August 15, 1943, in Louisville, KY, she married Kenneth Vincent Minnis who preceded in death Nov. 8, 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Robert Wright of Denver, CO, three sons, Kenneth Kathy Minnis Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, Paul Minnis of La Porte, IN, Stephen Minnis of Zanesville, OH, Nine grandchildren, Benjamin Wright, Rebecca Waters, Andrew Minnis, Elizabeth Harper, David Minnis, Stefanie Minnis, Collin Minnis, Tyler Minnis, Greta Minnis, four great grandchildren and a sister, Nellie Boaz of Evansville, IN,. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Golda Mitchell, four brothers, Julian Ethridge, Woodrow Ethridge, Joseph Ethridge, and W. R. Ethridge . Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will have private visitation and a private service. Interment will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. A memorial service will be held Sunday February 8 at 10:30 am at the Grace Baptist Church during the regular Sunday worship service.
