Lois Shaffner

Mrs. Lois Jean Shaffner, 83, of Mill Creek, Indiana, died Thursday March 25, 2010 in her home. She was born March 25, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Delbert McNabb and Linnie Rathfon McNabb. Lois and Reece moved to LaPorte in 1955, coming from South Bend, Indiana. They were the founders and former owners of Shaffner Tire in LaPorte. On June 14, 1947, in South Bend, IN, she married Reece Shaffner who survives. She is also survived by her three daughters, Sallie Terry Carbiener of Sawyer, MI, Pam Nickell of La Porte, IN, Wendi Jon Barris Shaffner of Manhattan Beach, CA; one son, Ned Shaffner of LaPorte, IN; twelve grandchildren, Eric, Lance, and Marc Oliver, Paul, Keith, Brian Shaffner, Max and Lauren Barris, Todd Birkholz, Bethany Birkholz, Brook Stines, Scout Nickell and several great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane Huff of GA. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters & two brothers. Arrangements are being handled by the Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana 46350.
