Mr. Lloyd G. Clayton, 87, of 1102S CR-200E, LaPorte, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at 7:20 a.m. at his home. He was born May 17, 1917, in Kouts, IN. to Peter H. and Ila J. Hubbard Clayton, and had lived most of his life in the LaPorte area, coming from Kouts.. Mr. Clayton was a farmer for 66 years, retiring in 2000. He graduated from Stillwell High School and Purdue University?s Ag Winter Course in 1938. He was a member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church and Kiwanis Club, was a lifetime member of the Purdue Alumni Association, was the Indiana Prairie Farmer Master Farmer in 1971, Indiana Dairyman of the Year in 1977, and was former director of the LaPorte County Farm Bureau Co-op. On Nov. 22, 1945, in Door Village, he married Betty Jane Ribordy, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy Clayton-Ault of Ellicott City, Md.; two sons, Dr. David L. Lari Clayton of Granger and Vane P. Cassandra Clayton of Boulder, Colo.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth J. and Lynne B. Ault and Katie A., John P. and Scott D. Clayton; and one sister, Betty J. Ramsey of Mill Creek. His parents; one sister, Ione Andrews; and one brother, Vernon, preceded him in death. The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m.CST, LaPorte Time at Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, LaPorte, with Revs. Mark Harris and Terry Rhine officiating. Friends may call at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. CST, and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. CST until the service. A private family burial will be held at Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte.
