Leona "Lee" Aftowski

Leona "Lee" Aftowski, 95, of La Porte, IN, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Settlers Place in La Porte, IN.

She was born August 10, 1924 to George and Ethel (Seggarman) Francis in South Bend, IN. She married Frank Aftowski on May 4, 1946 in South Bend and lived in Fish Lake until the present.

Lee was active in 4-H work for 50 years, helping start cake decorating and many other factors of 4-H in La Porte County. She was a 50 year Charter member of the Lincoln Twp. Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, a 40 year volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile, a 38 year volunteer for La Porte Hospital Auxiliary, an avid member of Lincoln Outreach Volunteer Effort (LOVE) Club in Fish Lake, a member of Fish Lake Property owners association, a member of Angel Gift's, Inc., a 50 year member of La Porte Co. Homemakers extension and much, much, more including being an excellent cake baker for many years. She loved quilting, knitting and crocheting.

Lee is survived by her daughter Sandra ( Ron-deceased) Stone; Son, Barry (Mary) Aftowski; daughter Sally (Kevin-deceased) Donahue; six grand-children, Kevin Ackerman, Keri Cannon, Scott (Mandee) Aftowski, Tonya (Nate-deceased) Elshire, Cory (Erica) Donahue, and Matt Donahue. 7 great-grandchildren Nicholas and Briella Elshire, Cali, Cooper and Cort Aftowski, and Troy and Luke Cannon.

Lee was proceeded in death by her husband Frank in 1999, grandson Jason Aftowski, grand-son-in law Nathan, son-in-law Kevin, and a brother Ernest Francis.

As per her wishes there will be no services. She had requested her body be donated to science, with cremation to follow.

She would be happy for all who knew her to just smile when you have her in your thoughts.
