Mrs. Leona M. Nielsen, 73 of 1333 E. CR 500 S. LaPorte, Indiana died Thursday January 13, 2005 at 1:20 AM at Cardinal Nursing Home, South Bend Indiana. She was born July 15, 1931 in LaPorte, Indiana, to William and Helen Barthel Dankert, who has proceeded. Mrs. Nielsen lived all her life in the LaPorte area. On September 2, 1950 in Hamlet, IN, she was married to Herbert Nielsen, Sr., who proceeded February 23, 1995. Mrs. Nielsen was a housewife/homemaker, and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving is a son, Mr. Herbert Donna Nielsen, Jr. of LaPorte, IN, a son, Mr. David Debra Nielsen of LaPorte, IN, a grandchild, Mr. Herbert Nielsen, III, a grandchild, Miss Maryhelen Nielsen, a grandchild, Mr. Robert Nielsen, a grandchild, Miss Julia Nielsen, a grandchild, Miss Leah Nielsen, two sister?s, Mrs. Carol Berg of Hamlet, IN, Mrs. Kathy Harrow of LaPorte, IN, and two brother?s, Mr. William Dankert, Jr. Mr. Charles Dankert. Mrs. Nielsen has 4 great-grandchildren. The Funeral will be at the St. Peter Catholic Church on Saturday January 15, 2005 at 10:30 AM, with Rev. George M. Vrabely officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date, in Pine Lake Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of LaPorte Co.
