Mr. Lawrence P. Clark, 89, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday November 14, 2009 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte, IN. He was born March 8, 1920 at his family farm in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, the son of David Clark and Carrie Harris Clark. Lawrence Graduated from Rolling Prairie High School on May 13, 1938. He was a US Army veteran during W.W. II, on D-Day he served with the troops at Omaha Beach in Normandy; he had the opportunity to return on the 50th anniversary. Lawrence was a salesman in Detroit, MI. He moved back to La Porte and worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He then worked for American Country Life Ins. Co. and later in his years he was a realtor for Liston Brown. . He has been a member of the Rolling Prairie Masonic Lodge for 63 years and a member of the LaPorte VFW for over 50 years. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He loved working in his garden and tending his flowers. He is survived by his two nieces Signe Steen, Denise Roper; two nephews Greg Clark, Tom Clark; one great niece; three great nephews and a brother-in-law Don Wilke. He was an uncle to many, and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Geraldine Clark, two sisters, Romaine Wilke, Virginia Jack Bellemore and a nephew, Wayne Cook. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, November 19, 2009 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The Rolling Prairie Masonic Lodge will conduct a Service at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday November 19, 2009 at 7:00 PM followed immediately by the funeral service with Rev. Lois Shattuck officiating. The VFW and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct a Military Service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
