Laura Spencer

Mrs. Laura Howard Spencer, age 65, of La Porte, IN, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. She was born May 13, 1940 in Brethitt Co., KY, to George Howard and Mae Dysart Howard, who has preceded. Also preceded in death are two sisters, Bobby Clemons, and Lucy Howard. Mrs. Spencer has lived in the LaPorte area for 52 years, coming from Brethitt Co., KY. On October 29, 1954 in Brethitt Co., KY, she was married to Manuel Spencer, who survives. Mrs. Spencer was employed by American Rubber Factory for 16 years, and was a member of Free United Baptist Church of Knox. She Loved her grandchildren, loved to cook, loved her family and very active in her church. Surviving is her husband Mr. Manuel Spencer, of LaPorte, IN, Step-Mother, Pearlie Howard, Two Daughters, Mrs. Betty Fred Miller of La Porte, IN, Mrs. Sue Mike Van Dusen of La Porte, IN, One Son, Mr. Raymond Spencer of La Porte, IN, two half-sisters, Lisa and Becky, Four Brothers, Mr. G.T. Carolyn Howard of La Porte, IN, Mr. James Vicki Howard of La Porte, IN, Mr. Ed Carol Howard of La Porte, IN, Mr. Pete Joann Howard of New Carlisle, IN, Two grandchildren, Rachel Reed, and Caleb Miller, Mrs. Spencer has Two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 20, 2005. Funeral service will be at Meer Road Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Friday, October 21, 2005 , with Rev. James Rowe officiating. Interment will be at Springville Cemetery in LaPorte, IN.
