Larry Eugene Eveland died on April 17, 2024, in Valparaiso, Indiana at age 88. 

Larry was born on January 11, 1936, in Elkhart, Indiana to Harold and Joyce Eveland. He had one sister, Saunie Brown. Larry was an entrepreneur businessman. 

On June 22, 1968, Larry married Judith (Summers) Eveland at the First United Methodist Church in Marquette, Michigan. They shared 55 years of life and love until Judy’s death on August 13, 2023.

Larry appreciated classic cars, from Model Ts to his old station wagon. He was a small engine airplane pilot and enjoyed reading, but those things were just hobbies. The things that he loved were not things. Larry loved his wife, Judy, and his children. He loved his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. Larry loved Judy’s cooking, and he loved complaining about every meal that was served to him at a restaurant. 

He had a strong, independent spirit and a generous heart, for which he will be greatly missed.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife Judith, parents Harold and Joyce, sister Saunie Brown, and grandson Dustin.

Larry is survived by his son Charlie Harper in Fargo, ND; daughters Char (Mark) Ellinwood in Wauseon, OH; Cathy (Robert) Burleson in Bakersville, NC; Sarah (Josh) Elzinga in Wanatah, IN; grandchildren Annabelle, Luci, Sarah Grace, Elisha, Brandon, Megan, Moriah, and Rebecca, eight great-grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his lifelong dear friends, Roger and Gail Kneeland and Dick and Nancy Lutey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services in La Porte, Indiana. Cremation has taken place, and the family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
