Kevin L. Smith May 30, 1961-June 24, 2015 Kevin L. Smith, 54, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, died Wednesday June 24, 2015 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN. He was born May 30, 1961 in Kendallville, Indiana, the son of Bernard Smith and Shirley (Dukes) Smith. Kevin worked in maintenance for New Prairie Schools. Kevin loved to fix things and was very dedicated to his work. He was a very loving, kind, and compassionate person. Kevin loved being Papa to his grandaughter, Aubrey. On October 24, 1992, in South Milford, IN, he married Krista (Tracey) Smith who survives. He is also survived by his, mother, Shirley Smith of Kendallville, IN; son, Jason (Samantha) Smith of Nashville, TN, and one daughter, Desiree (Joshua) Deutscher of Rolling Prairie, IN; one grandchild, Aubrey Hardesty; two brothers, Major Gary (Pat) Smith of Kendallville, IN, Craig (Julie) Smith of Kendallville, IN; two nieces, Cailynn Smith, Jenna Smith, and two nephews, Nicholas Smith, Eric Smith. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Smith and one nephew, Matt Smith. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, June 29, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, June 30, 2015, 10:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday June 30, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Eric Smith officiating. Cremation will take place.
