Kenneth B. Porter June 12, 1930-October 8, 2017 Kenneth B. Porter, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Brentwood Assisted Living in LaPorte, Indiana. He was born June 12, 1930 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Burl Porter and Pauline (Vandewalker) Porter. Kenneth was a member of the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church, he was the financial chairman at the church for 30 + years. Kenneth was a retired banker from the National Bank in South Bend and was a Veteran of the US Army. He was also a former member of the Jaycee's. Kenneth enjoyed golfing, watching the Chicago Cubs, all Notre Dame and Purdue sports, and going on cruises. On June 11, 1949, in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, he married Ella F. (Gilchrist) Porter who preceded in death December 25, 2013. He is survived by his four sons, Hugh Porter of Farmington Hills, MI, Kent (Angie) Porter of La Porte, IN, Kirk (Lauren) Porter of Chicago, IL, Bret Porter of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren, Morgan, Mallory Brianna, Joshua, Tyler, Adam, Cassondra, and Troy Porter; two great-grandchildren, Rory Porter, Zaiden Porter; two brothers, Paul Porter of Fort Wayne, IN, Thomas Porter of FL, and one sister, Patricia Wordinger of Detroit Lakes, MN. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wife; grandchild, Kyle Porter, son of Kent and Angie Porter; grandchildren, Andrew Porter and Jennifer Porter; daughter-in-law, Theresa Porter, children and wife of Hugh Porter; two brothers Charles Porter and John Porter. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Thursday, October 12, 2017, 9:30 am, until time of service at the Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. A life celebration will be held at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church 3444 E. US Hwy 20, Rolling Prairie, IN. 46371, Thursday October 12, 2017 at 10:30 am with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
