Kenneth Coates Jr.

Mr. Kenneth W. Coates, Jr., age 66, of Wilhem Rd., La Porte, Ind., died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Ind. He was born July 6, 1938 in Brown County, Ohio to the late Kenneth W. Coates Sr. and Mildred Albert Coates. He has lived in the LaPorte area for 39 years moving from Pennsylvania. Mr. Coates was the owner of KENCO Plastics Inc. and related Divisions. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and then spent 2 years in the US Army. He is the owner of the Paradise Miniature Railroad. He is a past member of the Rotary Club of LaPorte, Toastmasters, and had been a board member of the Heston Steam Museum. He was married Aug. 28, 1966 in Greensburg, PA to Barbara E. Long who survives. Also surviving are One Daughter, Miss Becky Coates of La Porte, Ind.; Four Sons, Mr. Kenneth W. Connie Coates, III of La Porte, Ind., Mr. David Patricia Coates of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Steve Coates of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Dan Amy Coates of Ogden Dunes, Ind., Three Grandsons, Kenny Coates, Alex Coates, Andrew Coates; Two Granddaughters, Tiffani Coates and Madison Coates; mother, Mrs. Mildred Coates of Brownstown, IN.; Four Sisters, Mrs. Esther Bryan of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Judy Lewis of Seymour, Ind., Mrs. Cecelia Mellencamp of Brownstown, Ind., Mrs. Nancy Yheulon of North Vernon, Ind.; and One Brother, Mr. Floyd Coates of Kent, Ind. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2005 and 9:00 am until time of the service on Wednesday. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2005 . Interment will be at Rolling Prairie Cemetery in Rolling Prairie, Ind.
