Kathryn Ruth Thode August 5, 1920-August 10, 2016 Kathryn Ruth Thode, 96, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Wednesday August 10, 2016 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. She was born August 5, 1920 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of R. Paul Bowman and Annie Marie (Carpenter) Bowman. Kathryn loved and served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Bethel Chapel of LaPorte, IN. Most of all, Kathryn loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening, nature, taking pictures and assembling photo albums that chronicled her children's lives. On March 6, 1942, in La Porte, IN, she married Carl W. Thode who preceded her in death January 22, 2015. She is survived by her three daughters, Kathy T. (Stuart) Singer of Austin, TX, Sylvia Thode of La Porte, IN, and Jeanne Cartwright of La Porte, IN; three sons,Thomas (Anne) Thode of LaPorte, IN., Paul D. (Gloria) Thode, and Mark R. (Phyllis) Thode of Bath, MI; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Bowman of La Porte, IN, and Philip Bowman of St. Augustine, FL. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Robert Bowman, and sister, Betty Straub. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, August 20, 2016, from 9:00 am, until time of service. A Memorial Service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday August 20, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tom Owen officiating.
