Mrs. Katherine I. Stelzried, 78, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday April 16, 2010 at La Porte Hospital in La Porte. She was born July 30, 1931 in Brownie, Kentucky, the daughter of William R. Vick and Vollie M. Croft Vick. Katherine has lived in the LaPorte area for twelve years, coming from California. Katherine worked as a waitress/hostess for Round the Clock. She was a member of First Church of God. Katherine was a caregiver for her mother, before she passed. She enjoyed being around people, and crocheting. On December 23, 1949 in Drakesboro, KY., she married William Meredith, who preceded in June of 1970. On August 15, 1971, in Los Angeles, CA, she married Charles E. Stelzried who preceded in death September 1, 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine S. Fletchier of Snoqualmie, WA; three sons, William K. Meredith of Santa Barbara, CA, Earnest D. Meredith of Los Angeles, CA, Thomas D. Meredith of Paradise, CA; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Norman R. Vick of Elkton, KY, Troyce Margaret Vick of LaPorte, IN; and one sister, Anna R. Gill of Clarksville, TN. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Robert R. Meredith, one sister and three brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, April 18, 2010 and 9:00 am Monday, April 19, 2010, until time of services. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, April 19, 2010 at Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Zigler, officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
