Mr. Karl Pankraz Graf, age 74, of Walkerton, IN, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at St. Joseph Medical Center in South Bend, IN. He was born March 15, 1932 in Freystadt, Germany, to Karl Graf and Dorthea Reinlein Graf, who has preceded. Mr. Graf has lived in the Walkerton area for 20 years, coming from Dolton, Illinois. On September 17, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, he was married to Margie Baker, who survives. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a Police officer, for 22 years, in Dolton, ILL, & Chief of Police in Justice, ILL, for 1 year. Karl was a cherished husband, father par excellence, master woodworker, expert marksman, reporter for Herald Argus, paraplane pilot, camera buff & comedian. He was an active member F.O.P., Illinois Assoc. of Chiefs of Police, Illinois Army National Guard, American Legion, Conservation Club, Fish Lake Properties owner Assoc., The Tuesday recreation club, & Swanson Senior Center, Karl was awarded the American Legion Certificate of Commendation of outstanding service, Harvey Police Dept., Certificate of Commendation for Distinguished Service. Surviving is his wife Mrs. Margie Baker Graf; of Walkerton, IN, Four Daughters, Mrs. Mary JerryCampa of Walkerton, IN, Noreen Graf, Helen Welle Graf, Margie B. Graf, Four Sons, Karl Erin Graf, Eric Chris Graf, Kurt Kelly Graf, Mark Janna Graf, One Sister, Mrs. Dora Smith of Frankfort, Ill, One Brother, -Mr. Joseph Graf of Manhattan, Ill, Eighteen grandchildren, Five great-grandchildren Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, July 23, 2006. Funeral service will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 11:00 AM Monday, July 24, 2006 , with, Rev. Michael Heimer officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mill Creek, IN. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 PM on Sunday 7/23/2006 at Haverstock Funeral Home, A Graveside Military Service will be conducted by the American Legion Fish Lake Post #400 At Oak Grove Cemetery.
