Justine Jones

Sarah Olive Justine Jones, 87, of P.O. Box 4 Mill Creek, IN. died Monday, March 22, 2004, at 10:02 a.m. LaPorte County time at Miller?s Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN. She was born January 10, 1917 in Mill Creek, IN. to Howard B. and Hilda W. Miller Smith and has lived in the Mill Creek area all of her life. Mrs. Jones was a supervisor at American Home Foods and retired in 1979. She also owned and operated the J. J.?s Ice Cream Palace in Mill Creek for many years. She was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church and Gleaners. On September 5, 1936, in Kingsbury, IN., she married Elvis G. Jones, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1980. Also preceding her in death are her parents; and one brother, Cedric B. Smith. Surviving are one daughter, Sherry Kay Lawrence Ray of North Liberty, IN.; one son, Randall E. Julie Jones, Sr. of Mill Creek, IN.; seven grandchildren, Kay M. Sterns, Catherine S. Douglas Seymour, Cortney L. Cynthia Ray, Randall E. Jones Jr., Rhonda L. Chris Schmitt, Rodney S. Jones, and Robin J. Greg Reese; ten great-grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Howard Ness and Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, IN.
