June Collier-Hammons

June V. Collier-Hammons, 75, of Elkhart, IN , died Sunday November 1, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart. She was born September 18, 1934 in Coalfield, Tennessee, the daughter of Elmer Smith and Ida Burgess Smith. June, retired from K-Mart, she also worked as a secretary for Hammons Construction and Hammons Balloons, Costumes and More. She was married to McKinley Ray Hammons, Sr. for thirty-two years. She is survived by her three sons, McKinley Ray Hammons, Jr. of Elkhart, IN, Terry Nancy Helser Hammons of Elkhart, IN, Steve Sherrie Hammons of LaPorte, IN; three daughters, Ginger Hammons of Elkhart, IN, Connie Ronald Duering of Lake Station, IN, Vickey Thomas Hullinger of New Haven, IN; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Freddy Smith and Hayes Smith, both of Tennessee. June was preceded in death by her parents, son, Randy Hammons, sister, Lucille Sieber, sister, Cheryl Smith, sister, Patricia Smith, sister, Betty Smith all of Tennessee and brother, Howard Smith of Dayton, OH. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm & Thursday, November 05, 2009 from 12:00 pm, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday November 5, 2009 at 1:30 PM with Rev.Hugh Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
