Juanita ?Nita? Hallberg, 74, of 2601 Valparaiso St. Apt. 128, Valparaiso, IN, died Saturday January 15, 2005, at 6:30 p.m. at the Arthur B. & Ethel V. Horton VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, IN. She was born October 20, 1930, in LaPorte, IN. to Guy Chester and Evelyn Cassidy Houston, and has live in the Valparaiso area for 52 years moving there from LaPorte, IN. Mrs. Hallberg was a homemaker. She was a member of the Vivian Society of the BPOE # 500 of Valparaiso, a Girl Scout Leader with the Drifting Dunes Council, a volunteer at Cooks Corner Elementary School, a avid bowler with the Monday Night Owls, a Cub Scout leader and enjoyed bingo and jewelry making. On Oct. 16, 1948, in LaPorte, she married Henry Charles Hallberg Jr. who preceded in death March 10, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents; 2 brothers, Warren and Donald Houston; 2 sisters, Irma McVay and Guila Baker. Surviving are 2 sons, Thomas Laurie Hallberg of Goshen, IN., Charles Nancy Hallberg of Milwaukee, WI; 3 daughters, Carol John Thompson of Las Vegas, NV, Elizabeth Knief of Valparaiso, Cynthia Hallberg of Indianapolis, IN; 10 grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 1 brother, John Ester Houston of Elkhart, IN.; 3 sisters, Nova Ford of New Port Richey, FL, Marilyn Roger Allison of Eleva, WI, and Patricia Kellems of LaPorte, IN. The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005 at the Haverstock Funeral Home, with Rev. William McVay officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
