Joyce E. Swanson August 3, 1936-February 2, 2017 Mrs. Joyce E. Swanson, 80, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was born August 3, 1936 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Walter and Lavon (Peterson) Dudley. She was a member of Pi Delta Kappa for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, cooking and is known for sharing her Texas sheet cake, her daily phone call to Nancy, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On June 2, 1956 in La Porte, Indiana she married Richard L. Swanson Sr. who preceded in death February 20, 1999. She is survived by her two sons, Richard L. (Vickie) Swanson Jr. of Union Mills, IN, Mark (Mike) Swanson of La Porte, IN; daughter, Linda Swanson of FL; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Robert) Quinn of Mill Creek, IN, Christopher Nystuen of La Porte, IN, Wendy (Jeremy) Noren of Danville, IN, Heidi Swanson of Michigan City, IN, Janie Swanson of Union Mills, IN, Jenna Swanson of Union Mills, IN, Dustin (Secret) Swanson of La Porte, IN; eleven great-grandchildren, Haley, Jillian, Gabe, Ella, Mackenzie, Clara, Ophelia, Eli, Adeline, Autumn, Guinevere; two sister-in-laws, Kathy Dudley of La Porte, IN, Patricia Baker of Montana; two brother-in-laws, Jim Swanson of Arkansas, Robert (Sharon) Swanson of La Porte, IN; best friend of 63 years, Nancy Geisler. Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Dudley. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Lake Cemetery with Pastor Larry Owens officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
