Joyce Carey Cooper December 7, 1922-February 6, 2018 Mrs. Joyce Elaine Carey Cooper, 95, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday February 6, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Miller's Merry Manor of New Carlislle, Indiana. She was born December 7, 1922 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Bert Carey and Arva (Crosswaite) Carey. Mrs. Cooper had been employed at K.O.P. during W.W. II, Dr. Edward Young, and Midwest Industrial Corp. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in LaPorte. On May 16, 1966, in Indianapolis, IN, she married Leonard Cooper who preceded her in death April 28, 1973. Also preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Margaret Ann Carey, and a niece Deidre Joyce Stephani. She is survived by her brother, George (Anne) Carey of Hudsonville, MI; best friend, Jane Stephani of La Porte; three nieces, Debra (Matt) Baughman, Diana (Robert) Timmer, Karlene (Randy) Ritter; four nephews, Douglas (Dawn) Stephani, Mark (Tara) Carey, Scott (Staci) Ecenbarger, and Steve (Sarah) Ecenbarger. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A private family service will be held at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Vale officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery.
