Mr. Joseph Earl Schroeder, age 87, of Edinburg, Texas, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at his residence in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on September 19, 1920 in Walkerton, Ind. to the late Orville Schroeder and the late Stella Whitmer Schroeder. Mr. Schroeder was employed by Allis Chalmers for 39 years, retiring in 1978. He was a Veteran of the US Army-Air Force. On the committee for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Held an office in the Union UAW. President of the Michigan City Fish and Game Club and was involved in PTA. He loved his family. On December 15, 1945 in LaPorte, Ind., he married Phyllis E. Stewart, who survives. He is also survived by Three Daughters, Mrs. Sally Michael Neary of Edinburg, Texas, and Mrs. Janet Ray Hammons of Elkhart, Ind. Mrs. Peggy Chet Ogle of Vevay, Ind. and One Son, Mr. Mark A. Schroeder of Edinburg, Texas. Ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. He preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two grandsons, one brother. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2008 and from 9:00 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2008, until time of service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2008, with Matthew Evans, officiating. Pallbears will be Billy Reese, Todd Schroeder, Bobby Gibson, Tim Gibson, Eric Gibson, Randy Ungerink, Sr. and honorary pallbearer, Randy Ungerink, Jr. Interment will be at Kingsbury Cemetery in Kingsbury, Ind.
