Mr. Joseph Pierzakowski, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, died Saturday September 12, 2009 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in La Porte. He was born April 3, 1922 in Chojne, Poland, the son of Joseph Pierzakowski and Romualda Blesinska Pierzakowski. Joseph was a member of La Porte Seventh Day Adventist Church. In 1951 Joseph and Eva moved to the US and he went to work for the Richard Gumtz farms, he later became employed with Pullman Standard of Michigan City. From there he went to work for Oscar Knoll and Sons and then to La Porte Lumber and Coal. He then became an independent contractor until retirement in 1983. But he never really stopped working, he always kept busy with all kinds of projects. Joseph and Eva have lived in the La Porte area since 1964 moving here from North Judson, IN. On January 20, 1946, in Germany, he married Eva Trocki Pierzakowski who survives. He is also survived by his daughter Geneva Nudd of New Carlisle, IN; four sons Bruno Barbara Pierzakowski of Birmingham, AL, John Pam Pierzakowski, Don Kelly Pierzakowski, Mike Lisa Pierzakowski all of La Porte, IN; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, September 15, 2009 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Wednesday, September 16, 2009 10:00 until time of the service at the church. Services will be held at the La Porte Seventh Day Adventist Church, Wednesday September 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Eric Freking officiating.
