Joseph Habaj, Sr.

Joseph S. Habaj Sr. September 20, 1938-September 26, 2017 Mr. Joseph S. Habaj, Sr., 79, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday September 26, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. He was born September 20, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Joseph Habaj and Harriet (Darschewski) Habaj. Joseph was a member of the Polish Falcons. He had worked for Whirlpool Corp. and retired from the LaPorte Co. Courthouse in 2000, he worked part time for LaPorte Hospital as a shuttle driver. He enjoyed old cars, computers, music and working at the hospital. Joseph especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. On August 19, 1961, in La Porte, IN, he married Judy (Horton) Habaj who survives. He is also survived by his two sons, Joseph (Dee) Habaj, Jr. of La Porte, IN, Robert Habaj of La Porte, IN; three grandchildren, Joseph Habaj III, Skye Prichard, William Watson; two great-grandchildren, Charlee, Kenley and Majorie Romhilt; two sisters, Dorothy (Sonnie) Lawson, Angie Myhand; one brother Don (Eleanor) Davis, Jr.; sister-in-law Anita Davis and many nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond Davis and Robert Davis, and step-father, Donald Davis, Sr. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10:00 am, until time of service.
