Joseph Allen Apr. 25, 1913 - Oct. 22, 2008 Mr. Joseph Allen, age 95, of La Porte, Ind., died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at his residence in La Porte, Ind. He was born April 25, 1913 in McGoffin County, KY to Mack and Stella Salyer Allen. He has lived in LaPorte for the last 8 years coming from Union Mills, Ind. Mr. Allen retired in 1974 after 33 years of service as a signalman for the CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Church of God in Hamlet, IN. On April 17, 1937 in Bass Lake, Ind. he married Annie J. Webb who preceded in death on Dec. 1, 1992. He remarried on November 19, 1994 to Catherine Gunion who preceded in death on April 23, 2001. He remarried on November 4, 2003 in LaPorte to Anna Good who preceded in death on April 1, 2004. He is survived by his two daughters, Lois Franklin Proud of Niles, Mich., Janice David Warner of La Porte, Ind.; two sons, Melvin Patricia Allen of Daytona Beach, Fla., Delbert Debbie Allen of Hanna, Ind.; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; five brothers, Dan, Gerald, Ralph, Russell Allen all of Knox, Ind., and Floyd Allen of Delong, Ind. Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his parents, wives, one daughter, Caroline Swanson; one grandchild; three sisters and five brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 24, 2008 and Saturday from noon until time of the service. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2008, with Rev. Dan Allen and Rev. Floyd Allen officiating.
