Johnnie Ashford Jr.

Mr. Johnnie A. Ashford Jr., 53, of 206 Washington St., LaPorte, Indiana, died 7:00 a.m., Sunday March 7, 2004, at 6813 South Evans St., Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Ashford was born October 11, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Johnnie and Lucille Lakiomac Ashford Sr., and had lived in the LaPorte area for 20 years coming from Chicago, Illinois. On September 14, 2002, in LaPorte, he married Wanda Tubbs who survives. He was a member of Greater Harvest Baptist Church and a US Army and Air Force veteran in Vietnam. He was a laborer, working for manufacturing firms. Surviving with his wife are two sons; Avin Asford of Chicago, Illinois, Ieshon Tubbs of LaPorte, four daughters; Ayana, LaTonya, Karina Tubbs all of LaPorte, Indiana, Shyann Ashford of South Bend, Indiana, four sisters; Juanita Smith of South Bend, Indiana, Deborah Joiner of Indianapolis, Indiana, Yolanda Chandler of South bend, Indiana, Valaria Bishop of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be Friday, March 12, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at the Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. Odesa Cash officiating. Friends may call Friday March 12, 2004, at the Haverstock Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m., till time of service. Burial will take place at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
