John Gerard Stumpf

John Gerard Stumpf, 64, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024. 

He was born June 12, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Charles A. Stumpf and LaVerne I. (Baker) Stumpf. 

A resident of Chicago, John attended Chesterton High School. John was a proud member of the IBEW for 28 years, working as a lineman for ComEd and retiring in 2015. John often traveled to various parts of the country with his coworkers to repair downed lines after natural disasters. He was an avid fisherman, and in retirement enjoyed living on his tugboat in Montrose Harbor during the summer season. John was a kind-hearted person with a generous spirit who lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his two brothers, Charles Stumpf and Mark (Christine) Stumpf; four sisters, Sharon Wessel, Pamela Hoffman, Peggy Demikis (Jose) Bayron, and Melissa (Ray) Page; nieces and nephews Bridget, Charlie, Liz, Jimmy, Jenny, Brian, Lauren, Mel, Angela, Nicole, Alex, Michael, and great nieces and nephews Cydney, Eli, Charlotte, Courtney, Gus, Fiona, Hayden, Kennedy, Conrad, Ivan, Sylvia, Bryndal, and Braylen. 

John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Flynn; and nephews Fabian and Christopher.
