John Nichols

Mr. John W. Nichols, age 79, of 9204 S. CR 250 E., Hamlet, Ind., died Monday, January 16, 2006 at 9:45 AM, at his home in Hamlet, Ind. He was born October 25, 1926 in Englewood, TN. to the late Clyde Nichols and the late Lena Mae Gudger Nichols. He has lived in the LaPorte area since the 1950's. Mr. Nichols was employed by Wanatah Trucking as a driver for 18 years retiring in 1989; he had also worked at Midwest Emery Trucking and Kroblin Transportation Service. He was a Veteran of US Army during WW II and Korea as a Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post #434 of Kingsford Heights, Teamsters Union Local 710 of Chicago, Teamsters Union 135 Michigan City / Central States, he received numerous safe driving awards, and he was very family oriented and enjoyed being with his grandchildren. On June 8, 1950 in Chattsworth Georgia he married Georgia Marrow who survives. He is also survived by Three Daughters, Rose Cherie George Seabolt of Bringhurst, Ind., Denise Fickel of La Porte, Ind., Carla Brown of South Bend, Ind.; One Son, Mr. Michael Nichols of Hamlet, Ind.; Two Sisters, Mary Belle Nichols of La Porte, Ind., Julia White of Cleveland, Tenn.; One Brother, Clarence Nichols of Madisonville, Tenn.; and Nine grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2006. Funeral service will be at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc. at 1:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2006 with Rev. Ellis Martin and Celebrant Craig B. Malone officiating. Interment will be at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, Ind. Memorial contributions maybe made to VNA Hospice of LaPorte Co., P.O.
