John "Jay" W. Kelley May 17, 1923-December 20, 2013 Mr. John "Jay" W. Kelley, 90, of La Porte, Indiana, died Friday December 20, 2013 at Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. He was born May 17, 1923 in Martinsville, Illinois, the son of Dailey Kelley and Cecile (Deahl) Kelley. John "Jay" worked 13 years as a driver for Wanatah Trucking. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veteran of the US Army during WWII, where he received 2 Bronze Stars, and a Good Conduct Medal, he was a Staff Sargent, serving in the Phillipines. He was a member of the American Legion Post #400 of Walkerton, IN. and the Falcons, and Gleaners. Jay and Barbara enjoyed dancing with friends. He also enjoyed bowling and woodworking. On June 4, 1949, in LaPorte, IN, he married Barbara (Kepcha) Kelley, who survives. He is also survived by his son - Dr. Dennis (Linda) Kelley of Indianapolis, IN; daughter - Lynn (Robert) Bline of Rolling Prairie, IN; 4 grandchildren - Matt Bline, John Kelley, Brent Kelley, Conner Kelley; great-grandchild - Logan Bline; sister - Norma Litteral of Shelbyville, IL. John "Jay" was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, December 23, 2013 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, December 24, 2013 from 9:00 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday December 24, 2013 at 10:00 am with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Interment will follow at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church 1225 Michigan Ave. La Porte, IN 46350.
