John Griffin

Mr. John W. Griffin, 78, of La Porte, IN, died Monday August 1, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. He was born February 26, 1933 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of John B. Griffin and Ruth (Bartz) Griffin. John worked in Quality Control for Whirlpool Corp, LaPorte Division, retiring 1994. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving in Korea. On April 2, 1960, in LaPorte, IN, he married Helen (Dettman) Griffin who survives. He is also survived by his 2 sons - John A. Griffin of Corning, NY, Jeffrey L. (Kim) Griffin of Buchanan, MI; 5-grandchildren - Kasey, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Samantha & Tiffany; 6- great grandchildren; 2 sisters - Mary Manring of Plymouth, IN, Joan Goers of Racine, WI; 2 brothers - Ronald (Mary) Griffin of Saint Joseph, MI, and Thomas (Barbara) Griffin of La Porte, IN. John was preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Friday, August 5, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 10:00 am, until time of service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday August 6, 2011 at 11:00 am with Pastor Chris Armiger officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
